Sunday Special: Opening Day
A new beginning.
We officially started baseball this weekend, with the Opening Day festivities our league holds. The teams parade from one field to another and there's speeches by local figures. The Somerset Patriots mascot was in attendance along with the local fire department and their ladder truck with the big American flag
We won our first game. My older guy's team won 10-9 in walk off fashion. I got my first W as a manager. My guy started as the catcher and finished up at 3rd base and had a couple of RBI in his first game in kid pitch.
My younger son's team also had their first game. He plays on coach pitch. Me being a coach, means I get to pitch to the kids. The first inning was a little rough, three up and three down. After that I started hitting bats with my pitches. The kids played well and had a lot of fun.
Now the fun begins. I'll be on a baseball field almost every day for the next two plus months. By no means am I complaining. I love it.
Let's have a good, productive week ahead.
Until next time.
